The upgraded version of Everest Base Camp trekking; the Everest Gokyo Lakes trek is considered the finest extension of Everest Base Camp Trek. The exciting Gokyo Lakes trek offers to explore the valley of glacial lakes- Gokyo valley. Gokyo Ri- one of the best mountain viewpoints on Everest offers the best views of the Himalayas including the highest in the world. The inclusion of the Cho-La pass- one of the highest Himalayan passes adds an extra level of the challenge on the trek. The exploration of famous Sherpa villages of Lukla, Phakding, Namche, and more is interesting. Exploring the cultures, witnessing the true Himalayan lifestyle, and tasting the local food is so satisfying factors of the trek. The occasional encounters with wildlife including Himalayan musk deer, red panda, and snow leopard is expected.
There are two different permits (Sagarmatha National Park Fee and Pashang Lhamu Municipality Entry fee needed. These two permits can be issued along the way. Like other trekking on Everest, the Gokyo Lakes trekking is also a tea house trekking. All the local lodges on the route have good facilities for food, accommodation, electricity and even WIFI. The best time to trek to Gokyo Lakes are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Trekking in monsoon is not recommended and winter is not a good time to trek to Everest Gokyo Lakes too

Trip Itinerary

Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport. Glacier Nepal treks representative welcomes you at the airport and takes you to the hotel by privet vehicle. After a short rest, You will meet the guide at our office. you may have some questions about trekking he will give you an answer to the question. Overnight at the hotel.

It’s about 35 min flight from Kathmandu. You will meet our staff at Lukla airport. you have breakfast at Lukla. Now we are ready to start our trek. It is downhill until Thado Koshi you will see the beautiful view of mt. Kusum khangaru. now we walk next to Dudh Kosi river up to Phakding. Overnight at Phakding 

After breakfast, we start trekking before reaching the Banker you can see the beautiful view of mt Thamserku. Today we enter Sagarmatha ( Everest Nepali name) national park. After crossing the several time's suspension bridges we climb up you will see the first view of Mt. Everest. If you get lucky you may see a red panda before reaching the Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Namche Bazaar is a gateway to Everest and the biggest village in this region. We hike to the Everest view hotel to acclimatize and to see the spectacular view of mt Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam, Nuptse, and many other peaks. after heading back to Namche you can also visit the Sagarmatha national park head office, sherpa museum, and market, some cafés show movies about Everest and sherpa. overnight at Namche bazaar.

Today we walk to almost flat for about two hours, during the flat walk we will see the magnificent view of Mt Everest, Amadablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, and many more mountains after that we ascent to Mongla from Mongla we will see the beautiful view of Thamserku and Kantega than the descent to Phortse tanga trail through the rhododendron forest climb up beside the Dudh Kosi until Dole. stay overnight at Dole.

After breakfast we climb up during the climb we will see the 6th highest mountain Cho-ou (8201m). we walk narrow sandy way beside the Dudh Kosi river passing the Luza village. keep walking at your pace do not walk fast or slow. Then final ascent to Machhermo. Today we are quite high so we can visit the health post at Machhermo for an altitude sickness lecture. Stay overnight at Machhermo.

Today we trek to Gokyo, after the first ascent we walk the narrow trail and reach a rocky climb up and we pass the Dudh Kosi river just before the Ngazumpa glacier. Then we pass through Longpongo, Raboche Tsho, and Gokyo (Dudh Pokhari) before we reach the Gokyo. You can freely walk to the lake it is next to your teahouse. Stay overnight at Gokyo.

We hike early morning to Gokyo RI (viewpoint). It is a few hour's climbs up from the top we will see the magnificent views of Mt. Everest, Lhoste, Cho-ou, Ngozumpa Kang, Gyachung Khang, Pumori, Nuptse, Makalu, Cholatse, Tabuchi, Kangtega, Thamserku, Kusum Kangaru and Gokyo lake and Ngozumpa glacier largest glacier of Nepal. After getting back to Gokyo, we can also explore up to the 6th lake which is beside of glacier. Stay overnight at Gokyo 

Today we trek down to Dole passing all lakes and walking beside the largest glacier in Nepal. Enjoying the beautiful view of the high mountain. Passing the Machhermo and other villages all the way down to dole. Stay overnight at Dole.

Today we step down to Phortse tanga then climb up to Mong-la with the wonderful view of Kang Tega and Thamserku. After Molngla downhill to Sanasa then walks the plane until Namche Bazar before reaching the Namche Bazaar, we will see the last time mt Everest and other mountains. Stay overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Today is the last day of trekking, it steeps downhill until the Dudh Kosi river. A passing couple of suspension bridges we exit Sagarmatha national park. Keep walking down to Thado Kosi, this is the lowest point of the Everest base camp trek. then the ascent to Lukla. Overnight at Lukla 

After having breakfast, fly back to Kathmandu  Take you to the hotel. After a shower, you can visit Thamel for shopping. In the evening we have a farewell dinner in a traditional Nepalese restaurant with cultural dance. Overnight at the hotel.

This is your final day in Nepal. Glacier Nepal treks representative will drop you at Tribhuwan international airport by privet vehicle. Home sweet home.
